Russell Martin was delighted to see his team overcome adversity at Livingston following a superb first-half performance that undoubtedly should have yielded more goals.
“I was proud of my players. We should have scored more goals – particularly in the first-half. There was some amazing football in the first 45 minutes. However we didn’t start the second-half well – we didn’t control it. The gap in performance between the first-half and the second was too big – but in the last ten minutes we were camped in their half.

“The opposition were better and more aggressive in the second-half – although we have to be able to deal with that. Our level of intensity in the first-half was outstanding – but it wasn’t quite there in the second. Perhaps it was down to confidence and momentum.”
The Ibrox Boss accepted that Max Aarons’ late winner may well be a turning point in the season.
“The winning goal could be a big moment for us, a big step for us – although I would rather have been 3-0 up at half-time”.
He summoned the spirit of Jock Wallace as he spoke of the strength ot togetherness amongst his players.
“We showed so much character and spirit in the closing stages of the second-half. The willingness to fight for each other has really grown in the last few weeks.”
